May 15-20, 2008

Thursday, May 15 - Depart Timonium Park & Ride via deluxe motorcoach. A second stop for a pick up enroute at Rolling Road Park & Ride will be planned. Rest stops will be made enroute. High Tea will be enjoyed at Timeless Tea in Roanoke Rapids, NC. After tea, continue our leisurely drive south, again with rest stops and a fast-food dinner stop enroute. This evening, settle in to our comfortable hotel in Summerville, SC that will be our home for the next five nights. Evening tonight is on-your-own.

Friday, May 16 - Enjoy a deluxe continental breakfast this morning at our hotel before departing for our first stop of the day, a guided tour of Historic Charleston. Tour Charleston’s beautiful old historic district with a stop at the Heyward-Washington House. View the lovely homes along the Battery, 18th Century Rainbow Row, St. Michaels Church and many other points of interest. Following the tour, we will visit the Joseph Manigault House, which is considered to be one of the finest Adamesque mansions in the country. After our busy morning, we will stop at Charleston Place and enjoy High Tea. Following tea, we will tour the Aiken Rhett House and enjoy some free time for shopping in the Market and along King Street. On-your-own Dinner this evening at Magnolia’s in downtown Charleston. Return to the hotel after dinner. Evening on-your-own.

Saturday, May 17 - Enjoy a deluxe continental breakfast this morning at our hotel. This morning begins with a stop for a tour at the Charleston Tea Plantation. This should truly be a wonderful stop for our group, as it is the weekend of the “First Flush Festival” at the Charleston Tea Plantation. In addition to viewing the thousands of tea plants growing on acres of rich and fertile lowcountry soil, the festival will allow us to enjoy local artists, sample Lowcountry foods, listen to the singing and dancing of live music performed during the day. Lunch today is on-your-own. This afternoon, we will take a walking tour of Historic Beaufort. Tour through the lovely village with its beautiful and stately homes, many of which were built prior to the Civil War as summer homes by the wealthy plantation owners from this area. Included in our tour is a visit to the John Mark Verdier house. A three-course dinner tonight is Included at Panini’s Café. Return to the hotel after dinner. Evening on-your-own

Sunday, May 18 - Prepare yourself for a very special start to our day! Included this morning is Sunday Brunch at This Whole House Restaurant and Tea Room. Following Brunch, we will continue our morning with a tour of Cypress Gardens which was once one of South Carolina’s most prosperous rice plantations. Explore the exhibit buildings and walking trails. See real alligators and crocodiles. Explore the beautiful gardens by flat bottomed boat. Enjoy an included boxed lunch today at Cypress Gardens. A stop will be made today at Strawberry Chapel, a beautiful little chapel on the ease of the Cooper River. Here we will learn about the ordeal of “Little Miss Chicken.” Continue on to Boone Hall Plantation which has been used in filming many television mini-series such as “North and South”, and “Gone with The Wind”. Dinner this evening is on-your-own.

Monday, May 19 – Enjoy a deluxe continental breakfast this morning at our hotel.


Begin your day with a tour of Drayton Hall, considered to be the finest Georgian Palladian Plantation house in the south. Continue on to Magnolia Gardens, one of the most beautiful romantic gardens in the world. Our tour of Magnolia Gardens will include a tram tour to part of the Audubon Swamp Garden, home to scores of water loving creatures. We may even see an alligator and will have the opportunity to view the abundant bird population of the lowcountry. Enjoy an included boxed lunch at Magnolia Gardens. Continue on to a tour of Middleton Place, a registered National Historic Landmark and the plantation home of the Middleton Family since 1741. A special treat this evening will be a farewell dinner cruise aboard the Spirit of Carolina. Cruise Charleston ‘s beautiful harbor aboard the 100’ luxury yacht, The Spirit of Carolina. Enjoy the unique and beautiful sights of the harbor as well as a delicious dinner. Return to the hotel after dinner. Evening on-your-own.

Tuesday, May 20 – Enjoy a deluxe continental breakfast this morning at our hotel, prior to checking out of the hotel. An on-your-own lunch stop and rest stops will be made enroute. A gift card ($15.00 value) to use toward dinner this evening at Cracker Barrel in Fredericksburg is included. An evening arrival back to the Baltimore and Towson area is anticipated.

Cancellation Policy: To protect the operation of this tour for everyone, the following cancellation penalties will be in effect: 60 days or more prior to departure = $110 per person; 45-59 days prior to departure = $225 per person; 31-44 days prior to departure = $500.00 per person; 16-30 days prior to departure = $750.00 per person; 15 days or less = no refund. Cancellation Penalty will be refunded if a replacement passenger can be found to take your place. Trip Cancellation Insurance is available and highly recommended for $88.00 per person (Double or Single rates) or $70.00 per person (Triple or Quad rates). Pre-existing conditions can be covered – if insurance is purchased within 7 days of tour deposit.
